Tim Meadows is an American actor, comedian, and writer, best known for his decade-long tenure on Saturday Night Live (SNL) from 1991 to 2000.
Born on February 5, 1961, in Highland Park, Michigan, Meadows grew up in Detroit in a working-class family, the son of Mardell, a nurse’s assistant, and Lathon Meadows, a janitor.
As the youngest of five children, he found solace in comedy during a turbulent childhood marked by the social unrest of the late 1960s.
Inspired by comedic icons like Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor, Meadows honed his craft through improvisational comedy, eventually becoming a household name through his versatile performances on stage and screen.
His career spans television, film, voice acting, and stand-up comedy, with memorable roles in Mean Girls, The Goldbergs, and Schooled.
Siblings
Tim has five siblings, namely Lathon Meadows Jr., Lillie Renetta Wilson, James Alexander Wilson, Rodney Meadows and Wanda Meadows.
However, due to Tim’s private nature, not much is known about the five including their personal lives or career pursuits.

Career
Meadows’ career began in the Chicago comedy scene, where he performed improv at the Soup Kitchen Saloon and joined The Second City comedy troupe alongside future stars like Chris Farley.
In 1991, Saturday Night Live producer Lorne Michaels recruited him, launching Meadows into national prominence.
During his ten seasons on SNL, he created iconic characters like Leon Phelps, “The Ladies Man,” who later starred in a 2000 feature film, and impersonated celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jackson, and Tiger Woods.
After leaving SNL, Meadows transitioned to film and television, playing Principal Duvall in the 2004 cult classic Mean Girls, a role he reprised in Mean Girls 2 (2011) and the 2024 musical adaptation.
He portrayed John Glascott in ABC’s The Goldbergs for six seasons and led its spin-off Schooled as the same character for two seasons.
His film credits include Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, Grown Ups, and Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.
Meadows has also voiced characters in animated series like Bob’s Burgers and appeared in shows such as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Office, and Space Force.
Accolades
In 1993, Meadows received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Series as part of the Saturday Night Live writing team, highlighting his behind-the-scenes creativity.
In 2010, he won a Streamy Award for Best Ensemble Cast in a Web Series for his work in a digital project, reflecting his adaptability to new media.
