    Trade Unions And Civil Society Push for Postponement of October 26 Elections

    civil societyMembers of the trade unions and civil society have called for the postponement of the fresh elections saying that it is not possible  for credible elections to be held on October 26.

    In a press statement dabbed we the people said that it is not safe to hold elections as scheduled,they said that ethnic militia are being openly mobilized.They are alarmed by public servants adorning military fatigues in political rallies which they claim is visual intimidation of the Kenyan public.

    The Trade unions and civil society is deeply disappointed by broadcast from state House imploring people to vote.

    They are deeply concern by attacks of the elections staff by opposition supporters and fear for their safety.They say that the exercise will not confirm credibility or confer legitimacy oon the winner or the participants of this election.

    The trade unions and civil society suggest that the country have a National dialogue.They also say that Wafula Chebukati to seek guidance from the Supreme court with regards to the current situation.

    They also asked the political class to commit to the national dialogue and also the police to cease using excessive force on people exercising their right to picket.

    They say that not having the elections will not create a constitutional crisis.
