Traffic disrupted on Nairobi Expressway after vehicle fire

Traffic was Thursday temporarily disrupted on the Nairobi Expressway near the Southern Bypass Entrance B after a vehicle caught fire on Tuesday following a mechanical failure.

The incident prompted a swift response from the Expressway patrol team, working in collaboration with the Kenya Police Service. All passengers aboard the affected Range Rover vehicle were safely evacuated, and the fire was quickly extinguished, preventing further damage or injuries.

Motorists were advised to exercise caution as crews worked to clear debris from the roadway to restore normal traffic flow. Authorities confirmed that the situation was successfully contained and posed no further risk to other road users by 11 am.

The Nairobi Expressway management reminded motorists to remain vigilant while driving and to promptly report any mechanical issues.

Drivers experiencing emergencies on the expressway have been urged to contact the rescue team via 011 103 9888.

Traffic was particularly affected around K13 near the Southern Bypass Entrance B, where clearance operations were ongoing.
