Tragic Road Accident Claims Life of Police Officer in Bungoma County

A police officer died following a tragic road accident along Chwele-Kanduyi road in Bungoma County.

The deceased, identified as Emanuel Simiyu Barasa, was involved in the accident that occurred at 9:50 pm on January 12.

The fatal accident occurred when Barasa was riding a motorcycle and was hit by a school bus that had collided with a donkey handcart.

According to the police report, the collision involved the Christ the King School Bus, which was traveling from Chwele to Kanduyi.

The bus lost control after colliding with the handcart, veering off to the opposite side of the road and colliding head-on with two motorcycles, one of which belonged to the deceased officer.

The victims were rushed to Bungoma County Referral Hospital.

Barasa succumbed to injuries while receiving medical care.

The body of the deceased officer has been transferred to the morgue at Bungoma County Referral Hospital, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Meanwhile, the school bus and the two motorcycles involved in the accident have been impounded at the Bungoma Police Station yard pending further inspection.

Investigation is underway.
