Cabinet Secretary for Interior security Fred Matiang’i has said the the impending transport sector crack down will touch a chain of people including the police, to stamp out carelessness on the roads.
“We have taken a longer route this time. We will institutionalise our response to address this insanity. We will focus on the whole chain of responsibility,” said Matiang’i.
Also to face the wrath of the law is rogue insurance firms, that refuse to compensate accident victims.
“We will go after wayward insurance companies, even if it means taking away their licenses,” he added.
Vehicle owners, passengers, touts and drivers will also not be spared.

“Don’t have mercy on these vehicles. Passengers who board overloaded vehicles should be arrested. I am very serious about this,” said the tough talking CS.
“If we don’t sort out this madness, people will come to live in your house and you will have to persuade them to leave your house by paying them. This is criminal and that we cannot accept it,” he said.
The CS also said that touts who harass PSV operators and passengers in bus stops will be dealt with by the law.
“Matatu owners have been telling us they have challenges at bus stops… there are brokers who harass the drivers.. arrest them …we have space at the remand..let us clean up this bus stops,” he said.
The crackdown starts on Monday with major transport hiccup expected to paralyse the transport sector as most PSV operators have not complied with the famous Michuki rules.
