The Kenya boys under 18 3on3 team emerged champions in the zone five championships qualifying for the Africa cup of Nations that will be held in Algeria in October.
The championships were held in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. The girls won all the games at the preliminaries stage but fatigue got the best of them as the officials rushed the program which was completed in one day.
The boys however absorbed the pressure to win the tournament despite the technicalities. The 3 on 3 is a new phenomena that the world body FIBA has introduced to improve the level of the game. Kenya just recently introduced the phenomena through playing of circuits in different counties.

The players were selected from schools across the country and trained by Eveline Kedogo, Justus Akhwesa and Coach Jimnah.
“The players did a good job considering its their first time to participate in the 3on3, we hope to do better in the Africa cup of Nations , We ask the government to accord support to this team to make sure that the youth are empowered through sports,” Eveline Kedogo said after the win
