Two Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested in Garissa, Firearm Recovered

Garissa police have arrested two suspects in connection with a recent armed robbery and a separate shooting incident along the Alikune–Dagahaley Road.
According to a statement on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, officers from Dagahaley Police Station, led by the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) and working with the Dadaab Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) team, swiftly pursued those responsible for terrorising road users and local residents.
A 26-year-old suspect was apprehended at Dagahaley Market. During questioning, he admitted involvement in the crimes and revealed that the firearm used had been hired for the attacks. He led officers to a hidden site where an AK-47 rifle was recovered, wrapped in a jacket inside a gunny bag and buried underground. A magazine loaded with three rounds of ammunition was also seized.
The suspect then guided police to a residence in Bula Kheir Village within the Ifo Refugee Camp, where his accomplice was arrested.
“Both suspects are in police custody as investigations continue,” the statement said, adding that the search for a third suspect is ongoing.
