Detectives are investigating an incident where two bodies were found in Mida Forest along the main Kilifi-Malindi Highway, Kilifi County.

The bodies were each on opposite sides of the highway.

The first body, of a male adult aged about 40 years, was lying in a prone position about 15 meters from the left side of the road while blindfolded with a white bandage, with blood oozing from the mouth and nose.

It also had multiple head injuries. The second body, of a male person in his early 40s, lay with blood oozing from the mouth.

The body had three gunshot wounds, two in the chest and one in the abdomen, police said.

It was established that the bodies were discovered by a bodaboda rider.

Police said the scene was undisturbed, implying that there was no struggle at the scene.

No spent cartridges or bullet heads were recovered. There were no identification documents recovered from the bodies.

It is suspected that the two unknown individuals were murdered elsewhere and their bodies were brought and dumped at the scene. The motive is yet to be known, police said of the February 21, 2026 incident.

The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

A group of activists who visited the scene demanded a probe into the murder. They said the scene was the latest to be reported amid fears of abduction and murder.

Elsewhere in Samburu area, Kwale County, a naked body of a man aged about 35 was found on the roadside. The body had bruises on the back and head when it was discovered.

Police said they were yet to identify the victim and that the body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.

The motive of the murder was not known. There were indications the victim was killed elsewhere and the body dumped at the scene.
