Two including elderly woman found murdered separately in Kisii

Detectives are investigating the murder of two people including a woman whose bodies were found separately in Kisii County.
The first incident happened in Motonto, Suneka area where the body of one Agnes Mokua, 73 was found in her house. She had multiple injuries when the body was discovered on February 13, police said.
The woman was pronounced dead while being attended to at a local hospital. Police said they suspect she was fatally attacked in her house or elsewhere and brought to the house as the body had injuries in the head, legs and hands, which were consistent with assault.
In Gesure village, Itumbe, Kisii County, a body of a man was found on the roadside along Itibo-Nyagesa road.
The man seemed to have been killed elsewhere and dumped at the scene by unknown assailants, police said.
Locals could not identify the man and the body was moved to the mortuary pending an identification and autopsy.
Police said the body had bruises when it was discovered.
An investigation into the murder incidents is ongoing, police said on Sunday February 15, 2026.
In Kapsabet, Nandi County’s Chesumei area, one Irene Jepkirui, 35 was found dead in her home after a suspected murder.
Police said the body had visible injuries in the thighs. It is believed she was assaulted which led to the death. Police said her husband was detained pending further probe into the murder as the body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy.
In Nunguni, Makueni County, one Muvoye Mulandi, 67 was found dead after a suspected murder.
Locals had reported she died by suicide but police probe showed the body had bruised in the back and some blood was oozing from the mouth and nose. The body was hanging on a desert tree with a sisal tied around her neck.
Police suspect she was killed and her body hanged to stage suicide. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Elsewhere in Awasi, Kisumu County, the body of an unknown man was found in a thicket.
Police said the body had bruises on the head, neck, hands and waist and was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Police who visited the scene said the man was killed elsewhere and the body was later ferried and dumped at the scene and the motive is yet to be established.
