Preliminary reports indicate that the two children left their home unnoticed.

At around 3:30 p.m., family members heard screams from other children in the neighbourhood. When they rushed to the scene, they found the sisters had fallen into a nearby shallow well, where their bodies had become stuck in the mud.

Members of the public were mobilised to retrieve the bodies from the well.

The children were buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
