Two suspected thugs were shot and killed separately in Nairobi’s Dandora and City Park, and pistols were found on them.
This comes as police intensify the war on crime.
In the first incident, a suspected gang member was fatally injured after an exchange of fire with police officers responding to a robbery incident along Councillor Opondo Road in Dandora, Nairobi.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 11, 2026, at about 11.30pm.
Members of the public alerted police to an armed gang comprising several men who were allegedly robbing pedestrians along the road.
Police responded and encountered three male suspects who allegedly drew firearms and fired at them.
Police officers returned fire, fatally injuring one of the suspects in the chest. The other two reportedly escaped towards the railway line.
A pistol identified as an Ekol Mini Special, bearing the initials “GAZA”, was recovered at the scene.
Police also recovered three mobile phones and an identification card bearing the name Eugene Karanja Mwangi, aged 29.
The scene was processed, and the body was moved to the City Mortuary for preservation pending postmortem examination.
No police officer was injured during the incident.
Elsewhere, a suspected robber was fatally injured after allegedly threatening to attack police officers responding to a robbery incident near City Park in Nairobi.
The incident occurred on Friday, September 11, 2026, at about 8pm.
Officers were conducting a foot patrol within the City Park area when they were alerted by members of the public calling for help.
The officers rushed to the scene and reportedly found about three men armed with pangas allegedly robbing members of the public.
The gang fled upon spotting the officers, leaving behind a woman they had reportedly held hostage. The woman was found unharmed.
A confrontation later ensued between the officers and the fleeing suspects. According to the report, police fired a warning shot into the air to scare them away.
However, one of the suspects allegedly advanced towards the officers while threatening to attack them. He was fatally injured during the ensuing confrontation while reportedly attempting to attack one of the officers.
Officers from Gigiri Sub-County visited the scene, where one sharp knife was recovered and secured as an exhibit.
The scene was documented and the body was moved to the City Mortuary pending identification and postmortem examination.
Police are investigating the incident, including the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
