Two Suspects Killed, AK-47 Rifle Recovered in Lolgorian Police Shootout

Police in Lolgorian have recovered an AK-47 rifle following a deadly confrontation that left two suspected criminals dead during an operation targeting a syndicate linked to a series of violent crimes, including murder, robbery, and burglary.
In a statement on Sunday, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers acted on intelligence that led them to Olakira, where the suspects were allegedly caught breaking into a local pub and loading assorted alcoholic beverages into their possession.
Upon spotting police officers, the trio reportedly abandoned the stolen goods, fled on a waiting motorcycle, and escaped into the night.
Police officers pursued the suspects and cornered them in the Olkilorit area. According to the DCI, the suspects opened fire when ordered to surrender, prompting a shootout.
“The officers responded with calibrated, lethal force, fatally injuring two suspects. However, one suspect managed to escape with gunshot wounds,” the statement read.
At the scene, officers recovered an AK-47 rifle fitted with a magazine loaded with two rounds of ammunition. Other items recovered include two Maasai swords, a claw hammer, a red Boxer motorcycle, and assorted alcoholic beverages believed to have been stolen.
The bodies of the deceased were moved to the Transmara West Sub-County Hospital Level 4 Mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination.
Police said efforts are ongoing to track down the third suspect who escaped with gunshot wounds, with detectives pursuing what they termed as “crucial leads” in the case.
