Two-year-old boy drowns in dam in Nyandarua village

A two-year-old boy drowned after he slipped and fell into a nearby dam in North Kinangop, Nyandarua County.
The deceased was reportedly at his home when the incident occurred on Saturday evening.
The incident was reported at Kinangop Police Station at about 9.35pm after the child’s grandfather told police that he had been at home with his wife at about 6pm when another grandson arrived running and alerted them that the deceased had fallen into a nearby dam or water pan.
The grandparents rushed to the water source and managed to retrieve the child before taking him to Engineer County Hospital for medical attention.
However, the boy was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Officers from Kinangop Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the scene and documented the incident.
The child’s body was moved to the hospital mortuary, where it was being preserved pending an autopsy.
Police investigations into the drowning incident are ongoing.
And a three-year-old girl died after she was electrocuted while playing with other children on the rooftop of an 18-storey building in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The deceased was playing on the rooftop of Tamam 2 Heights along Jam Street on Saturday evening when she accidentally stepped on an exposed live electricity cable.
The incident was reported at about 6pm, prompting officers from Eastleigh North Police Station and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Starehe to rush to the scene.
The child was rescued and rushed to Bilal Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers from Starehe photographed and documented both the primary and secondary scenes as police began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the electrocution.
The child’s body was subsequently moved to the 7th Street Mosque, where it was being preserved pending an autopsy.
Police are investigating how the exposed live electricity cable came to be on the rooftop and whether any safety measures had been breached.
