Tyler Toffoli is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward and alternate captain for the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League.
Born on April 24, 1992, in Scarborough, Ontario, he has built a reputation as a skilled scorer and versatile winger throughout his NHL career.
Selected 47th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Toffoli has played for multiple teams and earned recognition for his goal-scoring ability and playoff performances.

Tyler has two older sisters, Megan and Courtney Toffoli.
Raised in Scarborough, Ontario, by parents Rob and Mandy Toffoli, the family maintained strong ties to hockey, with their father serving as general manager of the Toronto Jr. Canadiens during Tyler’s youth.
Megan Toffoli works as a Forecast Analyst at Scotiabank in Scarborough, bringing a professional background outside of sports to the family.

Career
Toffoli’s journey began in major junior hockey with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League, where he excelled after being drafted seventh overall in 2008.
He posted impressive numbers, including 52 goals and 100 points in the 2011-12 season, which helped him transition to professional hockey.
He made his NHL debut with the Kings in 2013 and quickly contributed during their Stanley Cup run that year.
Over his career, Toffoli has suited up for several NHL franchises.
He spent his early years with the Kings, forming part of the effective “That 70s Line” and winning the Stanley Cup in 2014.
Subsequent stops included the Vancouver Canucks, where he had a strong late-season impact in 2020, the Montreal Canadiens (reaching the 2021 Stanley Cup Final), the Calgary Flames (where he set career highs with 34 goals and 73 points in 2022-23), the New Jersey Devils, the Winnipeg Jets, and finally signing a four-year contract with the San Jose Sharks in 2024.
Known for his scoring touch, he has adapted well across teams and continues to mentor younger players, such as with the Sharks’ young core.
Accolades
Toffoli’s list of achievements includes winning the Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.
He has twice represented Canada at the IIHF World Championships, capturing gold medals in 2015 and 2023, the latter as team captain.
Individually, he earned the AHL’s Dudley “Red” Garrett Memorial Award as rookie of the year in 2012-13 and recorded notable milestones such as the first hat-trick in an NHL outdoor game in 2020.
