Uasin Gishu Lands Officer Arraigned Over Bribery Claims

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and arraigned a clerical officer attached to the Uasin Gishu Lands Office over allegations of soliciting and receiving a bribe to facilitate land subdivision services.
The accused, Noah Kipkemboi Rotich, appeared in court where he was charged with receiving a bribe contrary to the Bribery Act, 2016.
According to the EACC, the case stemmed from a complaint filed by a member of the public alleging that the officer had demanded a bribe to speed up the land subdivision process.
Investigations by the Commission established that Rotich had allegedly solicited Sh100,000 from the complainant and received part of the amount. Upon completion of inquiries, EACC forwarded the case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who approved his prosecution.
The court granted Rotich a cash bail of Sh30,000 or an alternative bond of Sh100,000 pending further hearing of the case.
In a statement, EACC reiterated its commitment to combating corruption and promoting integrity in public service.
