The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has recorded 9,165 aspirants seeking the party’s ticket to contest various seats in next year’s general election.

In a statement issued on Monday, February 2, 2026, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said 139 aspirants have registered to vie for the 47 governor seats, while 240 are seeking the party’s nomination for the 47 elected senator positions.

Another 274 aspirants have expressed interest in the 47 Woman Representative seats, as 1,205 candidates are competing for the 290 National Assembly positions. The highest number of aspirants, 7,307, are seeking nomination for the 1,450 elected ward representative seats.

Kindiki noted that the registration of aspirants is ongoing and will remain open until the legal deadline of 90 days before the election date.

“The exercise of registration of aspirants is continuous until the statutory limit of 90 days prior to the election date,” he said.

The first UDA Aspirants’ Forum is scheduled to take place on Tuesday from 8.00 am.

In a notice dated January 22, issued by the party’s National Elections Board (NEB), UDA invited all qualified and interested members to register for the Aspirants’ Forum, which will play a key role in guiding the party’s nomination process ahead of the 2027 General Election.

The registration is being conducted through an online portal, where aspirants can enrol in the forum tasked with developing and implementing systems for free, fair and transparent party nominations.

The party has also set non-refundable registration fees ranging from Sh2,000 to Sh10,000, depending on the seat being sought. Aspirants for the Member of County Assembly (MCA) position will pay Sh2,000, while those contesting for Member of the National Assembly, Woman Representative or Senator will pay Sh5,000 each. Gubernatorial aspirants will be required to pay Sh10,000.

“All qualified and interested party members who wish to contest for various elective seats in the 2027 General Election are hereby invited to register as members of the UDA Aspirants’ Forum,” read part of the notice signed by NEB Chairman Anthony Mwaura.
