The British High Commission in Kenya celebrated Gay Pride Day at their Nairobi office on Friday by flying the Rainbow flag in support of Equality and Pride of the LGBTQ community.

Back in 2016, UK’s Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson, lifted a ban on UK embassies and high commissions to fly the Rainbow flag during gay pride events.

The policy was recommended to be reversed and recommended that missions should fly the rainbow flag in countries where official intolerance prevents the staging of gay pride events.

The UK seems to be making a statement since Kenya is not in support of the LGBTQ laws.

The UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office only allow flying of certain flags in their consulates, that is the flags of the nations and overseas territories of the United Kingdom on significant days.
