UN Nairobi Staff Complain after Being Denied Holiday on 26th October, Election Day

The UN Nairobi staff are complaining that the regional headquarter office is now ignoring national holidays and treating them as working days.

According to staff at the UNON complex, the UN office has declared that October 26th is a working day with any staff not coming to work expected to fill a leave form.

The same was with Mashujaa Day which was declared a working day and leave days deducted from staff who indicated that they were not reporting to work on that day.

The new rules from the UNON administration surprised staff who have always known that October 20th is a national holiday like all others.

Some government officials now think that maybe UN Nairobi is helping staff join NASA in boycotting the scheduled 20th October elections.

The government through the Interior Ministry CS has announced that Wednesday 25th October is also a holiday, prompting the UN Nairobi staff to demand that they be allowed to travel and vote on the same day.

There are around 4,000 staff working at the UN Nairobi complex with another 700 UN staff in Kenya working from outside the complex.
