A University of Nairobi (UoN) first year student on Wednesday shocked many after he reported for his first day at the institution of higher learning with a bicycle.

The student, admitted to the Kikuyu campus, was in the company of his parents. His father is seen help him push the bicycle as the mother follows close behind with a bag.

In 2017, a 24 year old John Mwirigi who campaigned on his bicycle became Igembe South MP after trouncing Jubilee’s Joseph Miriti.

Mwirigi then still a student at Mount Kenya University (MKU) became the youngest member of parliament without the flashy lifestyle but a dream and goal to serve the people.

“We decided to elect him. He had no money for campaigns but he offered good pledges and his manifesto was good,” a resident said.
