A group of former officials including Victor Wanyama’s father Noah Wanyama has purportedly taken over management of AFC Leopards.

The group led by Mathews Opwora as interim chairman and Susan Wamalwa as general secretary announced the changes after an “extraordinary meeting of concerned members” Monday.

Wanyama, who is not new to leadership squabbles that have rocked the Kenyan Premier League giants in the past, is listed as a member.

According to the new team the “outgoing” leadership of chairman Dan Mule failed to comply with registrar of sports directive to hold elections by 24 August 2018 among other requirements.

“The former officials, who lacked substantive powers anyway, had failed to comply with provisions of the sports act, the constitution and the requirement as laid down in the inter alia certificate of registration no. 30 issued to them by the registrar of sports,” a statement signed by Susan reads in part.

They have given themselves a 90 day mandate during which they will among other things put in place a new constitution in line with the sports act.

They also requested the “old” office not to interfere with their operations and facilitate “smooth transition.”
