Are You a Virgin? Nairobi’s ATG Radio Asks Job Seekers

“Before you are taken as either an intern or full employee, you are asked a million and one questions. But among all these, I was asked if am a virgin. Even though I won’t tell you my answer because it is either YES/NO, I found it to be beyond minimum qualifications. “These are the exact words of June, (not her real name), an intern at ATG (Around The Globe Radio).
Whilst it is true that a gospel radio station should be a pacesetter in moral standards among its staff, virginity cannot and should not used to gauge one’s qualifications.  How is my virginity related to reading news, hosting a show or being a reporter? Unless ATG is looking for something else in its employees, I strongly believe that asking job seekers whether they are virgins is wrong.
If we were to draw biblical examples, and look at the people God used to transform the world, they did not have a holy background. For example, Paul, formerly Saul, was a persecutor of the Church, but God changed him and marvelously used him. Before I decide to apply for a job at your station, I am well aware of your principles and that you are a practicing Christian Station, you do not have to expose me to a virginity test.
ATG- broadcasts in Nairobi on 91.1 fm Voi 88.5 fm (Taita-Taveta and Lower Coastal Region) Kibwezi 95.1fm. They are also live on Satellite and online through www.atgradiokenya.com. The station was founded by Apostle Musili of Around The Globe Deliverance ministries.
