In light of recent social media discussions questioning the quality of Shell V-Power fuel at select Shell service stations in Kenya, Vivo Energy Kenya, the exclusive distributor and marketer of Shell fuels and lubricants, has swiftly addressed the concerns and reassured its customers.

Vivo Energy Kenya is fully committed to providing high-quality products that meet and exceed the strictest industry standards. To ensure transparency and uphold the trust of its customers, the company promptly commissioned independent testing of Shell V-Power fuel at multiple service stations. Intertek Testing Services, a globally accredited laboratory known for its rigorous testing protocols, carried out these tests.

The results have been reassuring. Shell V-Power fuel at select service stations across Nairobi was found to meet its intended Research Octane Number (RON) of 95, confirming the high standards that Vivo Energy Kenya maintains at all times.

Test Results: Below are the results from the independent fuel quality tests conducted on Shell V-Power on 3rd February 2025:

A Commitment to Rigorous Quality Assurance

At Vivo Energy Kenya, fuel quality is non-negotiable. Shell V-Power is imported exclusively via designated cargo ships that ensure a certified RON of 95, a property carefully maintained throughout the supply chain. Upon arrival in Kenya, the fuel undergoes independent laboratory testing to verify its quality before being distributed.

The company’s commitment to quality assurance extends beyond initial testing. Vivo Energy Kenya has implemented a comprehensive quality control process at every stage of the distribution journey:

    • Daily ISO 17025-accredited laboratory testing at depots before fuel is loaded onto delivery trucks.
    • Pre-offloading quality checks at Shell service stations to ensure compliance before fuel is dispensed to customers.
    • Daily tests for water content, density, appearance, and color at depots and service stations nationwide, ensuring that each batch of fuel meets stringent quality standards.

As a leader in fuel quality assurance, Vivo Energy Kenya has invested heavily in RON testing machines at its Nairobi and Mombasa laboratories. In addition, the company’s Mobile Testing Laboratory conducts independent spot checks across the country at Shell service stations to ensure consistency and purity in every drop of fuel sold.

Vivo Energy Kenya’s Promise to Customers

Vivo Energy Kenya remains deeply committed to providing premium fuel products, including Shell V-Power, which is trusted by customers for its performance, efficiency, and reliability. The company takes great pride in maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety for its customers and will continue to ensure that every drop of fuel is subjected to the most rigorous checks.

“We understand the importance of trust when it comes to the products our customers rely on every day,” says the Managing Director of Vivo Energy Kenya. “We will continue to invest in quality assurance systems that ensure Shell V-Power remains the premium fuel choice in Kenya.”

At Vivo Energy Kenya, customer satisfaction is at the core of the business. The company’s ongoing commitment is to provide high-quality products and services that not only meet but exceed customer expectations while contributing to the growth and development of Kenya’s economy.
