Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has threatened to sue Nyali MP Mohammed Ali for defamation.

The county boss through her lawyer Mohammed Muigai says that the recent dossier presented by the legislator described her as a common thief, someone who is not fit to hold office and an embezzler of public funds.

The former Devolution CS further accused the MP of publishing the information linking her to the fresh Sh.9 billion NYS scandal without verifying its accuracy.

“Our client instructs that the defamatory words are actuated by extreme malice and calculated to cause [her] to be ridiculed and treated with contempt and disclaim,” her lawyer states.

Waiguru has demanded for the former investigative journalist to issue an apology and desist from uttering defamatory words against her.

“Take notice that unless we hear from you [within the stipulated time frame] we have mandatory instructions to institute legal proceedings against you at your own peril as to costs and attendant consequences,” Muigai said.

The first time MP on Tuesday presented evidence that linked Ms Waiguru and nine others to the NYS saga.

He mentioned Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri, Business man Ben Gethi, Nelson Githinji, Deputy director NYS Sam Muchuki, Health CS Sicily Kariuki, Police inspector Julius Muia and former DCI Ndegwa Muhoro.

Ali also mention 40 companies that might have received irregular payments from the NYS.
