Bar any calamity Victor Wanyama will be going to Madrid with Tottenham Hotspur for the Champions League final against Liverpool on 1st June.

Spurs pulled a remarkable comeback against Ajax Amsterdam on Wednesday night – beating them 3-2 away to make the final for the first time on away goal’s rule after a 3-3 aggregate scoreline.

Wanyama will be going to the Spanish capital nine years after his elder brother McDonald Mariga made a similar trip for the 2010 final with Inter Milan.

Mariga became the first East African to win the biggest prize in the European club football after emerging victorious on the night with a 2-0 win over Bayern Munich.

This year’s final has already been billed as a Kenyan affair pitting Divock Origi of Liverpool and Wanyama.

Origi, son of former Kenyan international Mike Okoth and a Belgian by citizenship, netted a brace as The Reds overcame a 3-0 deficit to beat Barcelona 4-0 on Tuesday to sail through.
