Waqf Commission Selection Panel Shortlists 35 Candidates for Eight Positions

The Selection Panel for the Appointment of Members of the Waqf Commission has shortlisted 35 candidates for eight vacant positions.

The panel had advertised the vacancies in the Daily Nation, The Star newspaper and the Kenya Gazette.

In a notice, the chairperson of the Selection Panel, Mohamed Alawi Hussun, said 148 applications were received by the June 26, 2026 deadline.

The shortlisted candidates are Abdi Ibrahim Abdi, Abdulrahman Manswab Mahsen, Abubakar Zubeir Athman, Ahmed Ahmed Omar, Ali Abdullah Ibrahim, Asman William Shariff, Aydaroos Muhsin Sayyid Ali, Bajaber Ahmed Said Salimu, Chui Khadijah Gatie, Diriye Ahmed Mohamed, Dr Jadeed Moza Ally, Dugow Musa Ibrahim, Godana Abdu Dae, Hache Hassan Issack, Haji Ramla Abdullahi Issack, Hamadi Yaye Shosi, Kasmani Asiya Saleem, Mabruk Khamis Rizik, Mahamud Mahat Abdi and Mohamed Abdisalam Sheikh.

Others are Muhamed Talib Bwana, Muhumed Mohamud Sheikh, Mutubwa Hassan Mohamed, Mwalimu Abuu Mohamed, Dr Mwamburi Adam Hamisi, Mwatsefu Juma Mwarika, Dr Omar Rashid Ali, Dr Omari Hassan Kinyua, Ramadhan Odhiambo Abdul, Dr Salim Islam Mohamed, Sheikh Ismail Musa Hajimala, Sheikh Issack Nabila Ibrahim, Sumba Hassan Rajab, Swaleh Feisal Hussein and Zainabu Zuwena.

The panel has invited members of the Muslim community to submit written information regarding any of the shortlisted candidates within 14 days from the date of the notice.

The information should be submitted to the Chairperson, Selection Panel for the Appointment of Members of the Waqf Commission, 20th Floor, CBK Pension Towers, Harambee Avenue, P.O. Box 40112-00100, Nairobi.

Submissions can also be sent by email to waqf.recruitment2026@ag.go.ke.

The panel said hard-copy submissions should be sealed and marked “Confidential”.

“The Selection Panel may interview any person who has submitted information on a candidate,” Hussun said.

The Waqf Commission is responsible for overseeing and managing matters relating to waqf properties and ensuring their proper administration in accordance with the law.
