    Webuye West MP questioned by EACC over Sh70 million graft claims

    Webuye West Member of Parliament Daniel Sitati Wanyama, appeared before the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Tuesday, April 1, 2024 for grilling in connection with an ongoing investigation into corruption allegations.

    Wanyama spent hours at Integrity Centre, where he is recording a statement regarding the case.

    The investigation centers on accusations of theft of public funds within the Bungoma County Government.

    The allegations relate to the irregular award of tenders for road construction worth Sh70,205,882 to companies linked to both Wanyama and the former Bungoma County Governor Wycliffe Wangamati.

    The tenders were reportedly awarded during the 2017/18-2021/22 financial years.

    Wangamati, who has also been implicated in the scandal, is scheduled to appear before the EACC on Tuesday April 8, 2025, officials said.

    They have denied any wrong doing in the tender.

    Wangamati, who served as the second Bungoma Governor was last year appointed to chair the Public Service Superannuation Fund Board of Trustees

    EACC continues its efforts to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption within the county government.
