    Keriako Tobiko Orders Police To Compensate Family Of Slain 8 Year Old Mathare Girl

    The DPP Keriako Tobiko has ordered the police to compensate the family of 8 year old Stephanie Moraa who was killed in Mathare during post election skirmishes.

    Though an inquest on the murder allegedly committed by a police officer is still undergoing, investigations by the Independence Policing Oversight Authority find the police culpable.

    The pupil allegedly shot by police as she was playing on the balcony during demonstrations after the August 8th polls in Mathare area turned violent.

    Family and neighbors identified the person who had fired the shot as a police man but the police said that they were chasing after armed robbers who were shooting in the air.

    The police blamed the armed robbers for the killing while residents blamed the police for using live bullets to qualm the protests.

    IPOA on Monday released a report on the findings of the death and injuries that were purportedly commuted by police officers, The file of the 8 year old girl was presented by IPOA to the DPP.
