Deputy Governor West Pokot county, Nicholas Atudonyang’ has been accused of threatening a woman with a gun and at some point choked her at a local joint.

Jane Wafula recorded a statement at Kitale Police Station where she said that the DG physically abused her over a Sh7.4 million land brokering deal that went sour.

Ms Wafula said that Atudonyang’s bodyguard drew his gun as he tried to disperse a crowd that was already forming.

County Commander Samson Ole Kine, confirmed that investigations were on going, terming the incident as ‘unfortunate.’

“It was wrong for the deputy governor’s bodyguard to draw a gun in public. We are investigating the matter to establish the truth,” said Ole Kine.

”He embarrassed me and I fear for my life after his bodyguard whipped out the pistol. I want justice on this matter,” Ms Wafula told the Standard.

But the deputy governor on the other hand said that the woman and her family fraudulently sold him a piece of land.

”The allegations are pure lies. I was just protecting her from public lynching. Furthermore the woman’s husband fraudulently sold me a piece of land. I feel conned,” Atudonyang’ said.

He said that the West Pokot residents have fallen prey to swindlers, who he vows to take action against.

”Nothing will stop me from pursing justice on this matter. I won’t sit and watch as my people are conned by fraudsters. These con people must be brought to book,” he said.
