Ford Kenya party leader Senator Moses Wetangula is allegedly eyeing the Bungoma gubernatorial seat currently held by Wangamati come 2022 following his fallout with the county boss who is also a member of his party.

According to sources close to the NASA co-principal, Wetangula ‘announced’ his intention to vie for the seat after Governor Wycliffe Wangamati withdrew his weekly funding to the party.

It is stated that Wangamati and his Trans Nzoia counterpart Patrick Khaemba have been giving Wetangula Ksh200,000 every Thursday to fund for his movements across the country.

The two however are reported to have abruptly withdrawn their contributions to the party leader.

It is claimed that the Trans Nzoia boss withdrew his funding on the grounds that “he has nothing to lose” as he is serving his second and final term.

As for Wangamati, it is stated that he withdrew his funds asserting that he has already done more than enough to pay the Ford Kenya millions of shillings in exchange for the party ticket during the much contested primaries in 2017.

According to sources privy to the party affairs, Wangamati is claimed to have paid Wetangula millions of shillings to have a smooth sail to the top.

It is believed that the governor withdrew his funding as he was informed that Wetangula is planning to use the funds to unseat him in 2022.

Besides the withdrawal of funds, Ford Kenya is noted to have been on a clear down-low  as it only has ten of it’s members in the National Assembly, only two governors as well as having Wetangula as the only Senator in the Senate.

With the fallout between Wetangula and Wangamati, it is believed that that is not the only person who will be contesting for the county job position as Sirisia MP John Waluke and Speaker of the Senate Kenneth Lusaka have also previously declared their interest for the seat.
