Win For Sonko After Court Throws Out Case Challenging August Election

Case challenging Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s August 8 win has been withdrawn after the petitioners failed to provide evidence before Justice Msagha Mbogholi on Monday.

Japheth Muroko and Zacheus Okoth have been ordered by the judge to pay Sh5 million to Sonko and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The judge yesterday adjourned the case for a few hours after one petitioner, Muroko claimed that he and his family had received threats to life.

Mr Muroko, through his lawyer Anthony Oluoch told the court that he needed the day to record statements at Kilimani Police Station.

They in October submitted that the gubernatorial election was flawed and was carried out in an unconstitutional manner.
