Woman beaten to death during family dispute in Busia
A 35-year-old woman was beaten to death during a family dispute in Mungatsi, Nambale Sub-County, Busia County, early Monday morning.
The deceased, identified as Agnes Alinjale, sustained multiple injuries to her legs and head during the incident, police said.
Callers reported a commotion at a homestead, where several people were allegedly fighting over family matters.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found Alinjale with multiple injuries believed to have been inflicted using a blunt object.
She was rushed to Busia Level Four Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police visited and processed the scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death began.
Her alleged husband was arrested and placed in police custody in connection with the killing.
Alinjale’s body was moved to the Busia mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.
Elsewhere, a 43-year-old woman was found dead inside her house in Mumias West, Kakamega County, amid reports that she and her husband had been experiencing persistent domestic disputes.
The body of Carolyn Makokha, a Luhya woman, was discovered at her home in Etenje “C” village on Monday.
Police officers visited the scene and found Makokha’s body lying on the floor inside the house.
Police said there were no visible injuries on the body. However, blood stains were found outside the house, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Preliminary inquiries among neighbours indicated that Makokha and her husband had been experiencing domestic problems and had allegedly been involved in frequent fights.
The scene was photographed and documented by investigators as they commenced inquiries into the circumstances that led to the woman’s death.
Her body was later moved to Butere Sub-County Mortuary, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
The autopsy is expected to establish the cause of death as detectives investigate whether the reported domestic disputes were connected to Makokha’s death.
And a 43-year-old man was beaten to death in Igembe South, Meru County, after he was allegedly accused of stealing a generator.
The body of Ibrahim Muriki was found lying outside his house in Kilili Sub-location on Monday afternoon, with multiple injuries reported across his body.
Police officers rushed to the scene and found Muriki’s body beside his house.
According to neighbours, Muriki had last been seen in the company of his cousin and other people who were allegedly confronting him over the suspected theft of a generator.
Police said a suspect was arrested by members of the community policing team and handed over to officers.
The crime scene was processed and documented by Crime Scene Investigation officers before the body was removed and taken to Nyambene Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
The body is being preserved at the facility pending a postmortem examination to establish the exact cause of death.
The suspect remained in police custody as detectives investigated the circumstances surrounding Muriki’s death and the events that preceded the alleged assault.
Elsewhere, a Tanzanian national working as a watchman was found dead at a kiosk in Bondeni village, Kitui County, on Monday morning.
Police identified the deceased as Joseph Yoana, who was working as a watchman at nearby shops.
The body was found lying on a plastic bag at a kiosk about 500 metres southwest of Kitui Police Station.
Police said blood was oozing from Yoana’s mouth and nose when they arrived. However, officers reported that there were no visible physical injuries on the body.
His mobile phone was found charging at a charging port at the kiosk.
Crime scene officers processed the scene before the body was removed and taken to the Kitui County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it is being preserved pending an autopsy.
The postmortem examination is expected to establish the cause of death.
Police have commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding Yoana’s death.
