A woman living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been deported and fined after she was found guilty of going through her husband’s phone without his permission.

She is said to have grown suspicious of her husband who she thought was having an affair.

Upon realizing that his wife had gone through his mobile phone, the husband reported the matter to the police.

Appearing in court, the woman admitted to transferring photographs from his device to hers.

The Gulf News reports that she was prosecuted under a cyber-crime law and fined a sum of Sh4.1 million.

Similarly, a woman also living in the UAE was in 2018 sentenced to three months in jail after she was found guilty of snooping through her spouse’s device.

But according to the woman, her husband had given her access to his phone after catching him talking to other women.

She transferred images from his phone to hers, to share with her siblings later.

In the Arabic country, it is considered an offence for either husband or wife to search the other person’s phone, even if one suspects the other of cheating.

It is also considered a violation of an adult’s personal online privacy if any of their information is looked at in secret by a partner, friend, relative, parent or work colleague.
