A 50-year-old woman died after falling into an underground water tank at a construction site in Kariobangi South, Nairobi.

The woman, identified as Thabita Nduta, had been working at the construction site for about two months when the incident occurred on Thursday morning.

According to police, Nduta slipped and fell into an underground water tank used at the construction site for curing building materials.

Police officers visited the scene and confirmed the incident, while Scenes of Crime personnel from Buruburu processed and documented the scene.

Police said the deceased had no visible injuries.

Her body was subsequently removed and taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.

Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the drowning are ongoing.

Meanwhile, an unidentified man died after being electrocuted while allegedly attempting to cut a copper cable from a high-voltage power line in Mbeere North, Embu County.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 1, 2026, at Kerari Village in Ndenderu Sub-location and was reported to police at about 3:49pm.

Police officers, accompanied by Kenya Power officials, visited the scene and found the unresponsive body of an adult male beneath a power-line post.

The man had visible burn injuries on the upper part of his body.

Investigators recovered a pair of pliers, plastic open shoes, a bag and a section of copper cable that appeared to have been cut from an earthing connection on the power line.

The line supplies electricity from Kamburu to the Kyenire Power Substation.

Police established that the electrocution occurred several feet above the ground on top of the power-line post, away from the main high-voltage line.

The man had no identification documents on him, making it difficult for police to immediately establish his identity.

The scene was processed and documented before the body was removed to Embu Level 5 Hospital mortuary, where it was preserved pending identification and a postmortem examination.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the suspected attempt to tamper with the power infrastructure.
