    Woman found dead after suspected murder in Kakamega

    Detectives are investigating the murder of a 63-year-old woman in a village in Khwisero, Kakamega County.

    The incident happened on Wednesday November 12 in Mundobelwa village and left one Mary Muyokhwe dead.

    Her body was found on a footpath near her house. The body had stab wounds on the upper hip and was naked. There were also bruises on the back of the body. The woman stayed alone in the house. It is not clear what the motive of the murder was.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said on Thursday no arrest had been made over the murder.

    Such murder cases have been on the rise in the area amid efforts to solve them. The incidents are linked to among others land disputes, police say.

    And two people drowned in separate incidents reported on Wednesday.

    The first incident happened in Naishi, Njoro, Nakuru County where a five-year-old boy drowned in a river.

    The boy had been reported missing on November 11, 2025 before the body was found floating on River Njorori.

    The parents of the boy said he was epileptic. The circumstances surrounding the said drowning were not clear, police said adding theyr are investigating the tragedy.

    The body did not have any visible injuries when it was discovered on November 12, 2025 by boda boda riders.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    Elsewhere, police in Mwatate, Taita Taveta County are investigating the drowning of a 37-year-old man in a dam within a sisal estate.

    Police said Samson Mwazo drowned as he ventured into the dam while in the company of his colleagues on Wednesday afternoon.

    His body was later retrieved from the water and taken to a local mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.
