Woman found murdered and body dumped in river in West Pokot

A woman was found murdered and her body dumped in a river in Ortum, West Pokot County.

The body of the victim was found half-submerged in water in the river Muruny within Chebrumben village. Police later identified the victim as Betty Nakuti, 44 who was a residence of Lokirimo estate in Ortum township.

The body had two deep cut wounds on the head.

Police said there were blood traces on the riverbank suggesting that the deceased was injured and dragged into the river. The body was a moved to Kapenguria Referral Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.

No arrest has been made so far.

Elsewhere, a commuter train hit and killed a 25-year-old man in an incident in Makongeni area, Nairobi.

The body of Vincent Ngeno was discovered on the railway line in the area long after the incident.

The victim was guard at the same Makongeni railway station when the incident happened.

The police are investigating the incident.

The body was moved to the City mortuary awaiting postmortem.

In Nyalenda area, Kisumu County, a body of a man aged about 45 was found floating on Lake Victoria.

The man had drowned at unknown time before the body was discovered by locals at Dunga Beach.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy.

In Katito, Nyakach area, the body of Morris Otieno Peter, 45 was found with multiple injuries inflicted by a sharp object.

The wife of the deceased alleged that her husband went to have a shower outside their house when he met a group of seven unknown men, all armed with crude weapons, who chased him back to the house. They attacked him using the weapons without robbing him of anything.

The body was moved to Bethlehem Mortuary, awaiting postmortem and further probe.
