Woman found murdered at Kakamega home

Police are investigating the murder of a 63-year-old woman in a village in Navokholo, Kakamega County.

The body of Pamela Maonga was found lying on bed in a pool of dried blood. She had not been seen in the area for hours and when locals went to check on her they found the body lying on bed. She had failed to wake up on Thursday which raised the suspicion of her neighbours.

The body had visible injuries on the head and both hands.

Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

No arrest had been made by Friday amid ongoing investigations.

Police suspect the woman was killed over land issues. She lived alone in the area and the suspected assailants may have taken the steps in their efforts to grab her land.

Such murder incidents have been common in the region amid efforts to solve them. A number of suspects are facing charges in courts over such incidents, police said.

In Sio Port, Busia County, a boda boda rider was murdered and his motorcycle stolen in an attack.

The body was found on the roadside near Sisenye forest after the murder on Thursday January 29, police said.

The body had multiple cuts on the forehead and neck when it was discovered by locals.

Police were called and moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere in Makengi village, Maara, Tharaka Nithi County, one Derrick Gikundi, 26 was found dead after he had been hit by a stone in the head.

The incident happened in an altercation by a known person. The motive was not established but witnesses told police the two had argued in the area before Gikundi was hit in the head fatally. The assailant escaped the scene after the incident.
