A 32-year-old woman was killed and her body dumped on the roadside in Amwathii Sub-Location of Kabachi Location, Meru County.
It is also believed the woman was sexually assaulted before her murder on April 12, police said.
The lifeless body of the woman was found lying in a pool of blood on the roadside in the village with visible serious injuries on the forehead and the back of the head.
The police said they are yet to establish the motive of the murder and the body was moved to Nyambene Sub County Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
A hunt for the suspected killer is ongoing, police said.
In the same area of Kibugua, one Harrison Njagi, 38 died by suicide by jumping into a 55-foot deep borehole. The man is said to have walked to his neighbour’s home where he jumped into the borehole in a suicide mission.
Police and a rescue team were called to he scene and managed to retrieve the body. The body was moved to the Chuka General Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
The incident was among three that were reported on Saturday, police said.
In Nandi’s Masese village, one Saraphim Kipkogei, 35 died by suicide by hanging himself with a bed sheet tied around his neck from one of the roof rafters inside his sitting room.
Police said no suicidal note was recovered and the motive of the incident is yet to be established.
The body was removed to the Kaimosi Jumuia Farewell Home awaiting autopsy.
In Bomet’s Jua Kali area, one John Mutai, 45, died by suicide by hanging himself using a manila rope tied around his neck on one of the roof rafters of the employer’s workshop.
Police said no suicide note was found and the motive is yet to be known. The body was removed to Longisa County Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination.
Cases of suicide have been on the rise amid calls to take measures to address the trend.
