Woman’s body retrieved from creek in Mombasa

Police in Jomvu Sub-County, Mombasa County, are investigating an incident in which the body of an unidentified woman was recovered floating in a creek within the Mreroni area.

The incident was reported on May 31, 2026 after members of the public spotted the body in Kisirwani Creek.

Officers from Jomvu Police Station, together with a disaster response team, responded to the scene and retrieved the body from the water with the assistance of emergency responders. Police said no visible physical injuries were observed at the scene.

The area was processed and documented by crime scene investigators before the body was transferred to Coast General Hospital Mortuary for preservation pending identification and a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the incident.

And police in Malindi Sub-County, Kilifi County, are investigating a sudden death incident involving a 73-year-old woman who was found dead at a family home after reportedly being left alone briefly while relatives attended church.

The incident was reported on May 31, 2026. The deceased, Beatrice Mwavita, had been visiting her relatives from her home in Mtwapa since May 26, 2026. On the day of the incident, family members left her at home in the morning to attend church service.

At around 1:00 p.m., they were alerted by a family member who asked them to return home and check on the elderly woman after she was found sitting unresponsive on a plastic chair.

A private doctor was called to the scene and confirmed that she had already died.

Police officers from Malindi Police Station visited the scene and found the body lying on a mat on the floor. Preliminary observations indicated no visible physical injuries.

The deceased reportedly had a history of high blood pressure, which investigators noted as part of the initial assessment.

Crime scene investigators processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Star Hospital Mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination.
