Zain Kenya which is soon to be called Bharti Airtel is not relenting in its effort to be the Kenyan communication market leader. It has today launched Sh5 and Sh10 denomination scratch cards.

The move follows the company’s aggressive entry into the mass market segment and subsequent 50 per cent reduction in call charges to any network in Kenya.

“We are offering a wide range of scratch card denominations to suit the needs of all individuals. Access to telecommunication services is no longer a luxury but an integral part of each Kenyan’s socio-economic needs,” says Mr Rene Meza, Zain Kenya managing director.

Zain Kenya has revolutionised the local telecommunications market with the introduction of a pricing model that has seen the company introduce a Sh3 flat rate for calls and Sh1 for sms to any network in the country.

The company also, through an advert in todays dailies, is recruiting more agents and retailers for its money transfer service, Zap. You only need a business registration, personal identification and a minimum deposit of Ksh 30,000 to qualify as an agent.

“We would like to enable our subscribers to enjoy our new low calling rates without any hindrance,” he said.
