Anton Zaslavski, known professionally as Zedd, is a Russian-German DJ, record producer, and songwriter born on September 2, 1989, in Saratov, Russia.
Raised in Kaiserslautern, Germany, after his family moved there when he was three, Zedd grew up in a musically inclined household.
His stage name, Zedd, is derived from the British English pronunciation of the letter “Z,” the first letter of his surname.
Zedd’s career spans electro house, progressive house, dubstep, and classical music, earning him global recognition for hits like Clarity and Stay.

Zedd has two siblings, an older brother, Arkadi Zaslavski, and a younger half-brother, Daniel Zaslavski.
Arkadi, born approximately three years before Zedd, is a musician and the lead vocalist of the German metalcore band Dioramic, where Zedd also performed before pursuing his solo career in electronic music.
Arkadi, who speaks both Russian and German, has maintained a close relationship with Zedd, notably attending the premiere of Zedd’s documentary, Zedd True Colors, in June 2016.
Career
Zedd’s musical journey began in 2002 when he joined Dioramic, a German deathcore band, as a drummer.
His pivot to electronic music was sparked by exposure to the French electronic duo Justice, particularly their album Cross.
In 2010, Zedd left Dioramic and won two Beatport remix contests, marking his entry into the electronic music scene.
