Zero Covid-19 Fatalities Reported, Tally Jumps To 101,009

153 people have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 3,922 tested in the last 24 hours. The country’s confirmed cases currently stand at 101,009.

In a statement, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said 1,192,605 samples have been tested for the virus since March 2020.

From the positive cases, 123 are Kenyans while 30 are foreigners. 91 are males while 62 are females.

The youngest is a one-year-child infant while the oldest is aged 80 years.

54 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus. 35 are from various health facilities across the country while 19 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

The total recoveries now stand at 83,990.

“Twenty-seven patients are in the Intensive Care Unit, 12 of whom are on ventilator support and 15 on supplemental oxygen,” the CS said.

“Another 16 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen, with 12 of them in the general wards and four in the high dependency unit.”

Zero patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours maintaining the total fatalities in the country at 1,763.

In terms of county distribution; Nairobi 93, Mombasa 13, Kiambu 8, Nakuru 6, Turkana 5, Kajiado 3, Kisumu 3, Taita Taveta 3, Busia 2, Nandi 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kirinyaga 2, Elgeyo Marakwet 1, Embu 1, Kilifi 1, Machakos 1, Makueni 1, Meru 1, Murang’a 1, Samburu 1 and Siaya 1.

In terms of Sub County distribution; the 93 cases in Nairobi are from Dagoretti North (19), Lang’ata (14), Kibra (12), Embakasi Central, Kasarani, Ruaraka and Westlands (6) cases each, Embakasi West (5), Makadara and Mathare (4) cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi North, Kamukunji and Starehe (2) cases each. Embakasi East, Embakasi South and Roysambu (1) case each.

In Mombasa the 13 cases are from Mvita (6), Jomvu and Nyaii (2) cases each, Changamwe, Kisauni and Likoni (1) case each. In Kiambu the 8 cases are from Kabete and Kiambu Town (2) cases each, Gatundu South, Kiambaa, Kikuyu and Ruiru'(l) case each. In Nakuru the 6 cases are from Nakuru East (4) and Nakuru West (2).

In Turkana, all the 5 cases are from Turkana West. In Kajiado the 3 cases are from Kajiado North (2) and Kajiado East (1). In Kisumu the 3 cases are from Kisumu Central (2) and Nyakach (1). In Taita Taveta the 3 cases are from Voi (2) and Taveta (1).

The 2 cases in Busia are from Matayos, the 2 cases in Nandi are from Emgwen, the 2 cases in Trans Nzoia are from Kwanza and Saboti (1) case each, the 2 cases in Uasin Gishu are from Ainabkoi and Turbo (1) case each, while the 2 cases in Kirinyaga are from Kirinyaga Central.

The case in Elgeyo Marakwet is from Keiyo North, the case in Embu is from Manyatta, the case in Kilifi is from Malindi, the case in Machakos is from Athi River, the case in Makueni is from Makueni, the case in Meru is from Imenti North, the case in Murang’a is from Maragua, the case in Samburu is from Samburu Central and the case in Siaya is from Aego Usonga.
