Ten people have been removed from the list of recipients of the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.), according to a notice issued by President William Ruto.

In a gazette notice dated December 19, 2025, President Ruto said the individuals were mistakenly included in the list of national honours announced during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations on December 12, 2025.

“In Gazette Notice No. 1836 of 2025, relating to the conferment of National Honours and Awards and as published under the Chief of the Order of the Burning Spear (C.B.S.) list, it is notified for the general information of the public that the following names were erroneously included,” the notice stated.

The names removed from the C.B.S. list are Ndungu Joyce Njeri Njoroge, who had been awarded the M.B.S.; Kiini Sylvester Ngei (M.B.S.); Owino Harrison Ochieng (O.G.W.); Kirui Kipkemoi Arap (O.G.W.); Chemweno Peter Kipsang (O.G.W.); Mogere Zakayo Izanta (O.G.W.); Sitima Allan Mukoto (O.G.W.); Akama Vane Nyabok (O.G.W.); Buchere Philip Brightone (O.G.W.); and Odera Millicent Anyango (H.S.C.).
