15-month-old baby dies after falling from third floor of building in Garissa Town

Police are investigating an incident where a 15-year-old baby girl died after falling from the third floor of a building in Garissa Town.
The baby had been left under the care of a caretaker when she accidentally slipped off and fell.
She landed on the ground floor and was injured before being rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Police who visited the scene on Sunday after the tragedy said they were investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy drowned in Poi Swamp in Kapkoiwo, Baringo County.
The victim was a pupil at Poi Primary School and drowned on Sunday February 15, 2026 as he was swimming in the water also hosting crocodiles.
It is believed the body of the boy was pulled from the scene by a crocodile which hampered efforts to retrieve it. Kenya Wildlife Service officials in the area were alerted and joined the search teams on the ground.
The body had not been retrieved by Tuesday amid search.
Meanwhile, a seven-year-old girl died after a branch of a tree that was being pruned fell on her in a village in Tinderet, Nandi County.
Police said the girl was standing next to where a man was pruning a tree when a branch fell off and trapped her fatally.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and probe.
And a man was hacked to death in a house over suspicion of a love triangle in Nesuit, Njoro, Nakuru County.
The victim is said to have been found in a house and was accused of a love triangle.
Police said the assailant is the husband of the woman who was accused of hosting the victim in the house.
The assailant was arrested at the scene while the victim was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries.
Police said they were investigating murder in the saga and that the body of the victim was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Such incidents have been on the rise in homes amid calls for parties to solve the differences amicably.
