Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph, professionally known as 21 Savage, is a British-born rapper based in Atlanta, Georgia.

Born on October 22, 1992, in Plaistow, London, England, he moved to the United States with his mother at the age of seven, settling in Atlanta where he grew up.

His parents, Heather Carmillia Joseph and Kevin Cornelius Emmons, are of Caribbean descent, his mother’s family from Dominica and his father’s from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, with Haitian roots on his paternal grandfather’s side.

21 Savage has three children from previous relationships and has been linked romantically to artists like Latto, whose relationship was confirmed in 2025.

    Siblings

Among 21 Savage’s known siblings are twin sisters Kyra and Jayda Davis, who are dance choreographers and continue to live in London with their father, where he works for Westminster City Council.

His parents separated early in his life, leading to divided family dynamics across the Atlantic.

Tragically, 21 Savage has experienced profound losses within his family.

He had an older brother named Quantivayus, known as “Tay-Man,” who was killed in a shooting related to an attempted drug deal.

In November 2020, his younger half-brother Terrell Davis, also known as TM1Way, was fatally stabbed during an argument in Lambeth, London, at the age of 27.

    Career

21 Savage began his music career in 2013, releasing early mixtapes like The Slaughter Tape and Slaughter King.

He gained wider attention in 2015 and rose to prominence with the 2016 collaborative EP Savage Mode alongside producer Metro Boomin, featuring hits such as “X” with Future and “No Heart.”

That same year, his feature on Drake’s “Sneakin'” boosted his visibility further.

In 2017, he released his debut studio album Issa Album, which included popular tracks and solidified his status in hip-hop.

His 2018 album I Am > I Was, led by the J. Cole-featured single “A Lot,” marked a significant milestone.

He has collaborated extensively with major artists, including Post Malone on the massive hit “Rockstar,” Cardi B on “Bartier Cardi,” and multiple projects with Drake, such as the 2022 album Her Loss and tracks like “Rich Flex.”

His 2024 album American Dream continued his success, blending street narratives with introspective themes.

Known for his distinctive flow, minimalistic ad-libs, and authentic storytelling, 21 Savage has evolved from underground mixtapes to mainstream dominance while maintaining ties to his Atlanta roots through his Slaughter Gang label.

    Accolades

21 Savage has received multiple Grammy nominations over the years, such as for Best Rap Album for Her Loss and I Am > I Was, Best Rap Song for “Rich Flex,” and Best Melodic Rap Performance for tracks like “Spin Bout U” and “Sittin’ on Top of the World.”

His work has also garnered BET Awards nominations, including for Album of the Year with Her Loss and American Dream, as well as Hip Hop Artist of the Year and Lyricist of the Year categories.

Many of his albums and singles have achieved RIAA certifications, reflecting strong commercial performance and sales.
