Slim Jxmmi is a prominent American rapper and singer, best known as one half of the hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd.

Born Aaquil Iben Shaman Brown on December 29, 1991, in Inglewood, California, he relocated with his family to Tupelo, Mississippi, where he was raised in the Ida Street housing projects by a single mother who served in the United States Army.

Slim Jxmmi forms the energetic, gritty counterpart to his younger brother in their collaborative music, blending high-energy verses with a distinctive flow that has helped define their sound in the rap scene.

    Siblings

Slim Jxmmi’s most famous sibling is his younger brother, Khalif Malik Ibn Shaman Brown, professionally known as Swae Lee.

The two brothers rose to fame together as the core of Rae Sremmurd.

    Career

Slim Jxmmi’s music journey began in high school in Tupelo, Mississippi, where he and Swae Lee initially performed under the group name Dem Outta St8 Boyz alongside local rapper Lil Pantz.

After facing tough times, including squatting in an abandoned house post-graduation, the brothers connected with producer Jemiah “J-Bo” Middlebrooks and later caught the attention of multi-platinum producer Mike WiLL Made-It.

This led to their signing with EarDrummers Records and Interscope.

In 2014, Rae Sremmurd burst onto the scene with the breakout single “No Flex Zone,” followed by “No Type,” both of which gained massive traction and chart success.

Their debut album, SremmLife (2015), set the stage for a string of hits.

Subsequent releases included SremmLife 2 (2016), featuring the chart-topping “Black Beatles” with Gucci Mane, and the triple album SR3MM (2018).

Slim Jxmmi has also pursued solo ventures and features, such as his appearance on Gucci Mane’s “Stuntin’ Ain’t Nuthin'” alongside Young Dolph.

    Accolades

Through his work with Rae Sremmurd, Slim Jxmmi has earned significant recognition in the music industry.

The duo’s hits, including “Black Beatles,” which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, have achieved multi-platinum certifications from the RIAA, along with other tracks like “No Type,” “No Flex Zone,” and “Guatemala.”

Rae Sremmurd’s albums have consistently debuted in the top ten of the Billboard 200, with SremmLife going platinum and others earning strong commercial success.

The group has received multiple BET Awards nominations, including for Best Collaboration and Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice, and has been nominated in categories at the Billboard Music Awards, such as Top Rap Artist.
