Sossion has claimed that the new curriculum – 2-6-6-3 – is being pushed by foreigners and that Matiang’i and co are subjects to foreign ideologies fronted by the World bank which he says are tragic.
The KNUT boss said the government in cahoot with the World Bank aim at sacking teachers as proved by the economics of this program change.
He said reducing primary education to six years consequently implies less teachers and that illiteracy levels will soar if the current 8-4-4 system is abolished.
“Research shows a third of class six pupils can’t read and write. With this level of unpreparedness where do you foresee if the new curriculum is introduced now?” He posed further querying consultations supposedly made, “who approved that the programme be set out in 2018?”
The new programme is set to roll out from next year and is expected to be fully implemented in seven years.

The nominated legislator said assessment, policy formulation, syllabus development, production of learning materials and piloting were done shoddily before yet they are key steps.

KNUT also rejected move to have higher qualifications for school heads terming it as “too strict.” Head teachers and deputies will be required to have Education degrees while principals and deputies will be required to have masters.
Sossion rejected policy to merge the boards of primary and secondary school that share compounds so they can have one principal and two deputies.

That’s why teachers afford laxity and strikes because they have more time. Years back we used to have many courses (about 14) and we managed with 8-4-4. These subjects were reduced to 5 and surprisingly the years remained the same. What a waste of time…
