The United states has raised concern over possible re-occurrence of the 20007/08 violence during and after the August General Elections.

US Ambassador to Kenya, Robert Godec during a meeting with National Assembly Majority Leader, Aden Duale, asked the government to ensure the polls are free, fair and transparent.

Godec also took the opportunity to announce that the former US Secretary of State John Kerry would lead a US Observer Mission. Kerry according to the ambassador will arrive into the country some time next week.

Kerry together with Former Prime Minister for Senegal, Aminata Toure will head the election observation exercise from the Carter Center, an NGO founded by former US President Jimmy Carter to promote democracy and human rights around the globe.

They will be checking on IEBC’s preparedness, security services and the general conduct during voting. They are also expected to meet with political party candidates, government officials, domestic observers and other international election observer missions.

The Majority leader in the National Assembly told Godec that the Jubilee party would win the elections by an indisputable margin.

The US envoy has also had meetings with IEBC officials, Opposition leaders and other key stakeholders in the electoral process.

Fred Matiangi, acting CS Interior Security, on Wednesday brought diplomats up to speed on the National Police Service security plan across the country that has been put in place to ensure peace and calm prevail during and after the elections.
