Kisii deputy governor Joash Maangi has been arrested.

According to sources privy to the details, the deputy county boss was arrested at Kisii School and was taken to Kisii Central Police Station.

The reason for the arrest is yet to be revealed.

“We don’t know why they arrested him. They did not give a reason why they were picking him for, they only told him to enter their car before they left to Central Police Station where they are interrogating him,” an aide told the Star.

It has been said that the DG was arrested as he and MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto waited to welcome him (Ruto) to former minister Simoen Nyachae’s burial.

It is alleged that he (Maangi) and some Ruto men had mobilized youths to heckle other leaders present at the funeral that is underway.

On Sunday, a former ODM branch executive and now an ally of the DP, Samuel Omwando was arrested from his house in Nyanchwa.

Maangi condemned the arrest of Mr Omwando.
