hassan omarFormer Wiper Party Secretary General Hassan Omar on Sunday defected to the Jubilee party.

The former Mombasa County Senator during a Jubilee rally at the Serani grounds vowed to back President Uhuru Kenyatta in the coming presidential polls scheduled for 26 October, 2017.

Omar said that neither of the NASA principals contacted him after losing the gubernatorial race. He said that Deputy President William Ruto was the only one who contacted him on 11 August urging him not to give up.

He also reproached the people for ‘glorifying academic dwarfism at the expense of real academics.’

Hassan also further revealed that it was the Jubilee supporters who helped him gather evidence that helped petition Governor Hassan Ali Joho’s win.

The former legislator also asked IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba to stay put and not allow NASA force him out of office.

He noted that he was not party to CORD’s move to oust former IEBC led by Isaac Hassan noting that they only succeeded because it was led by a minority.

He castigated NASA for not accepting wholly the Supreme Court ruling that did not find any criminal culpability on the side of the electoral body.

Omar decamped from the opposition citing personal issues among them, furthering his education.
