britainBritain on Friday warned its nationals against traveling to Kenya as there might be clashes on November, 28 throughout the country.

On the said date, President Uhuru Kenyatta will be sworn in for a second term in office.

But the opposition has threatened to swear in their leader, Raila Odinga on the same day as the People’s President.

The government, through its spokesperson Eric Kiraithe on Thursday warned NASA against unlawful assemblies but gave them the go ahead saying that ‘swearing in Odinga does not make him President.’

In August, Britain issued yet another travel alert on Kenya due to the post election protests in some opposition strongholds.

“During this period, you should exercise a heightened level of vigilance and take care in public places,” the alert read.

Britain did however congratulate Uhuru after the Supreme Court upheld his disputed October 26 win. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson sent his country’s message in a telephone call to Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed.

“Britain congratulates @PresidentKE@Ukenyatta through UK Foreign Secretary @BorisJohnson,’’ the tweet read.
